What exactly is rabies?

Rabies is a virus that affects animals and spreads to people through their saliva. It is fatal yet treatable. One Heath in the subject illustrates the weaknesses of the health system while also demonstrating the lofty goals that can be accomplished with cross-sector cooperation. In order to achieve "zero deaths," the world must have access to all available treatments, equipment, vaccinations, and technologies.

2022 World Rabies Day: Importance

World Rabies Day is used by a network of worldwide government organisations, nongovernmental organisations (NGOs), and vaccine producers to plan activities, conferences, and campaigns to help eradicate the illness. Additionally, the government makes plans and announcements to advance the cause. The Global Strategic Plan for the eradication of this dog-mediated disease has as its long-term objective the reduction of mortality to zero by 30. (2030).

International Rabies Day: History

In 2007, a campaign to raise awareness about rabies was launched. Many organisations, including the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in Atlanta and the Alliance for Rabies Control, joined together to launch the campaign. World Health Organization, World Organization for Animal Health, and Pan American Health Organization co-sponsorship of this event was its main highlight.

After three years of observing World Rabies Day, it was projected that over 100 nations hosted preventative and awareness-raising activities, and over 100 million individuals received information on the risks associated with contracting rabies. Additionally, 3 million dogs received vaccinations.
