World Mental Health Day 2022
Every year on October 10, World Mental Health Day is observed. On this day, various programmes are held to bring attention to mental health issues and their effects on those affected as well as the lives of those who care for them. In India, World Mental Health Day is observed on the final day of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare's Mental Health Awareness Campaign Week, which was launched last year.
Theme for World Mental Health Day 2022
The theme, or rather the slogan, for World Mental Health Day 2022 is "Make mental health and well-being for all a global priority." According to the World Health Organization (WHO), prior to the COVID-19 pandemic, approximately one in every eight people worldwide suffered from mental illnesses. However, adequate infrastructural and economic support for mental health was lacking.
People all over the world experienced mental stress as a result of the global pandemic. The virus permanently altered people's lives. Recent armed conflicts between nations, as well as religious violence, have exacerbated the situation.

History
The first World Mental Health Day was observed on October 10, 1992, at the initiative of Deputy Secretary General Richard Hunter. Until 1994, the day had no specific theme other than general mental health advocacy and public education.
At the suggestion of then-Secretary General Eugene Brody, World Mental Health Day was first observed with a theme in 1994. The theme was "Improving the Quality of Mental Health Services Worldwide."
WHO supports World Mental Health Day by raising awareness about mental health issues through its strong relationships with health ministries and civil society organisations around the world. WHO also assists in the development of technical and communication materials.
On World Mental Health Day 2018, Prime Minister Theresa May appointed Jackie Doyle-Price as the United Kingdom's first minister for suicide prevention. This occurred during the government's first-ever global mental health summit.
The World Federation for Mental Health (WFMH) is a non-governmental organisation that was established in 1948. On October 10, 1992, the then-WFMH Deputy Secretary General Richard Hunter initiated the first World Mental Health Day celebration. Every year since 1994, a different theme has been chosen for the global event.
