*In her budget speech for 2022-23, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman announced the launch of the Digital Rupee.

*On a trial basis, the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) plans to launch a digital rupee.

Environment and Ecology

The Environment Ministry has formed a task force of nine people to monitor the paintings in Kuno National Park.

* The nine-member task force will oversee the cheetah resettlement project in Madhya Pradesh's Kuno National Park and other suitable designated areas.

* The Task Force includes the Madhya Pradesh Forest and Tourism Principal Secretary and Dr. Amit Malik Tamil, Inspector General, NTCA, New Delhi.

*The task force will be in effect for two years. It may appoint a subcommittee to visit cheetah-inhabited areas on a regular basis.

*The task force will review progress and monitor the cheetahs' health.

*It will also track the cheetahs' hunting abilities and adaptation to the Kuno National Park habitat.

*In addition, the task force will recommend the development of tourism infrastructure near Kuno National Park and other protected areas.

Government Schemes and Initiatives

DPIIT has announced the establishment of a Credit Guarantee Scheme for Startups (CGSS).

*The Department of Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) has announced the establishment of a Credit Guarantee Scheme (CGSS) for Startups.

*Credit guarantee loans will be provided under this scheme by scheduled commercial banks, non-banking financial companies, and alternative investment funds (AIFs) registered with the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI).

*It will provide startups with collateral-free loans of up to $10,000.

*If the original loan sanction amount is more than Rs.3 crore, the transaction-based guarantee cover limit will be 80% of the defaulted amount.

*If the principal loan sanctioned amount exceeds Rs.3 crore, the transaction-based guarantee cover limit will be 75% of the defaulted amount.

*CGSS will supplement existing programmes under the Startup India initiative.

*The scheme reflects the government's emphasis on encouraging innovation and entrepreneurship.

*To review, supervise, and operationalize the scheme, DPIIT will form a Management Committee (MC) and a Risk Assessment Committee (REC).
