4. Pakistan has been removed from the FATF's Grey List for Terror Financing.
The Financial Action Task Force (FATF), the Paris-based global watchdog on money laundering and terrorist financing, has removed Pakistan from its grey list. In 2018, Pakistan was placed on the grey list for failing to combat money laundering and terrorist financing.
In addition to Pakistan, Nicaragua was removed from the FATF's "grey list," while the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Tanzania, and Mozambique were added. Myanmar has been added to the FATF's "blacklist."
The FATF stated in a statement that Pakistan has made significant progress in combating money laundering and terrorism financing. "They (Pakistan) have been removed from the grey list, but there is still work to be done on their part," said FATF President T Raja Kumar.
FATF praised Pakistan's significant progress in improving its anti-money laundering and counter-financial-terrorism (AML/CFT) regime in a statement. "Pakistan is no longer subject to FATF's increased monitoring process; to continue working with APG (Asia/Pacific Group on Money Laundering) to further improve its AML/CFT (anti-money laundering and counter-terrorist financing) system," the statement said. According to the global watchdog, Pakistan "strengthened the effectiveness of its AML/CFT regime and addressed technical deficiencies to meet commitments of its action plans regarding strategic deficiencies identified by FATF."
This development comes more than four years after the FATF placed Pakistan on its grey list for failing to control the risk of money laundering, which leads to corruption and terrorist financing. Pakistan had completed the majority of the FATF-mandated actions in 2018. Only a few items remained unfulfilled, including the failure to take action against UN-designated terrorists such as Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) chief Masood Azhar, Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) founder Hafiz Saeed and his trusted aide and the group's "operational commander," Zakiur Rehman Lakhvi.
Concerning Financing:-
With Pakistan on the list, it has become increasingly difficult for Islamabad to obtain financial assistance from the International Monetary Fund (IMF), World Bank, Asian Development Bank (ADB), and European Union (EU), exacerbating the country's cash-strapped situation. At a meeting in June 2022, the FATF stated that Pakistan would remain on the list but that it might be removed after an on-site visit to verify progress. Last month, Pakistan's foreign office stated that a technical team from FATF had conducted a "successful" visit and that Islamabad expected the evaluation process to reach a "logical conclusion" in October.

6. ISRO's entry into the global commercial launch service market will be marked by the launch of LVM3.
On October 23, 2022, the Indian Space Research Organization's (ISRO) heaviest rocket LVM3 will launch 36 satellites of British start-up OneWeb Broadband Communication Satellites from the spaceport in Andhra Pradesh's Sriharikota. This will be the launcher's first foray into the global commercial launch service market.
According to the ISRO:
-
"This contract with M/s OneWeb represents a historic milestone for NSIL and ISRO as LVM3 enters the Global commercial launch service market." "As part of the Contract, one LVM3 from Satish Dhawan Space Centre will place 36 satellites into orbit," ISRO stated.
"The cryo stage and equipment bay (EB) assembly are now complete." In the vehicle, satellites are encapsulated and assembled. "Final vehicle inspections are underway," it said.
ISRO's Commercial Arm:-
New Space India Limited (NSIL), a CPSE under the Department of Space and the ISRO's commercial arm, has signed two launch service contracts with M/s Network Access Associated Limited (M/s OneWeb), United Kingdom, for the launch of OneWeb LEO Broadband Communication Satellites on ISRO's heaviest launcher LVM3.
7. On October 22, Prime Minister Modi will launch a massive recruitment drive to fill 10 lakh positions.
The recruitment drive will employ approximately 100000 people, and 75000 new recruits will be assigned on this day. The campaign will begin with video conferencing. The newly elected will work in 38 government ministries at the Group A, B, and C levels. The 'Rojgar Mela' mega recruitment drive is a step toward providing job opportunities to youth and ensuring citizens' well-being. All Ministries and Departments are on a mission to fill the existing vacancies for sanctioned positions. Several recruitment agencies, including UPSC SSC Railway Recruitment Board, will be used to fill the positions.
OneWeb Information:
OneWeb is a global communications network powered by space that allows governments, businesses, and communities to connect. It is putting together a constellation of Low Earth Orbit satellites. The Bharti group of India is a major investor and shareholder in OneWeb.
The second launch pad at Satish Dhawan Space Centre, SHAR, has been fully integrated with two solid strap-on boosters and a liquid core stage of LVM3. Following successful completion of health checks, 36 OneWeb satellites were assembled with the dispenser unit.
OneWeb said in a statement that with this launch, it will have more than 70% of its planned 'Gen 1 LEO constellation' in orbit as it works to deliver high-speed, low-latency connectivity services around the world. An additional launch is planned for this year, with three more scheduled for early next year to complete the constellation, according to OneWeb.
ISRO Launch Vehicles: Lower Earth Orbit:
Several satellites must be deposited only in lower earth orbits, which begin around 180 kilometres above the earth's surface and extend up to 2,000 kilometres.
This space houses most earth-observation satellites, communication satellites, and even the International Space Station, a full-fledged laboratory in space that houses astronauts.
Because it requires less energy to transport satellites to low-Earth orbits, smaller, less powerful rockets are used for this purpose.
Higher Orbits: Other satellites must travel much further into space.
Geostationary satellites, for example, must be placed in orbits approximately 36,000 kilometres above the Earth's surface.
The rockets used by planetary exploration missions are also required to transport them much further into space.
Much more powerful rockets are used for such space missions.
In general, there is a trade-off between the weight of the satellite to be launched and the distance that it must travel. When compared to a heavier satellite, the same rocket can transport smaller satellites much further into space.
India currently operates two launchers: the Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle (PSLV) and the Geosynchronous Satellite Launch Vehicle (GSLV) (GSLV).
PSLV (Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle) made its first launch in 1994 and has been ISRO's primary rocket ever since. Today's PSLV, on the other hand, is vastly improved and several orders of magnitude more powerful than those used in the 1990s.
It currently has three variants: PSLV-CA (Core Alone), PSLV-G, and PSLV-XL.
PSLV is ISRO's most dependable rocket to date, having completed 52 of 54 flights.
The vehicle successfully launched two spacecraft, Chandrayaan-1 in 2008 and Mars Orbiter Spacecraft in 2013, both of which travelled to the Moon and Mars.
The GSLV (Geosynchronous Satellite Launch Vehicle) is a much more powerful rocket designed to transport heavier satellites much further into space.
It is capable of transporting 10,000-kg satellites to lower earth orbit. ISRO is now completely self-sufficient in terms of satellite launch thanks to Mk-III versions.
Previously, it relied on the European Arianne launch vehicle to deliver its heavier satellites into orbit.
