The Election Commission of India has designated actor Pankaj Tripathi as a "National Icon."

In order to assist the Election Commission of India (ECI) in raising voter awareness, actor Pankaj Tripathi has been designated as the ECI's 'National Icon.' Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Rajiv Kumar chose the actor for the honour based on his dedication to the cause and widespread appeal across the country. During an event on the 'Voter Awareness Program,' CEC Rajiv Kumar praised ECI state icon Pankaj Tripathi for his work with ECI in raising voter awareness among citizens, and named him the National Icon for ECI.

Pankaj won the National Award for his performance in the 2017 film Newton, which involved the electoral process. He portrayed a CRPF officer tasked with conducting elections in a conflict-ridden zone of Chhattisgarh's jungles. Pankaj Tripathi, a National Award winner, has been in the industry for nearly two decades. Omkara, Dharm, and Aakrosh are some of his critically acclaimed films.  Pankaj Tripathi's childhood:

Pankaj Tripathi was born on September 28, 1976, as the youngest of four children to Pandit Benares Tiwari and Hemwanti Tiwari in Belsand village (Barauli block) in Gopalganj District, Bihar, India. His father is a farmer and a priest. Tripathi also worked as a farmer with his father until he was in the eleventh grade. During the festive season, he used to play the role of a girl in his village's drama, which was well received by the villagers and eventually inspired him to pursue a career in acting. After high school, he moved to Patna to study at the Institute of Hotel Management, Hajipur. He was involved in college politics as well as theater. He also briefly worked at the Maurya hotel in Patna out of fear of failing as an actor, where he met his idol Manoj Bajpai. Tripathi later revealed that while working as a chef at the Maurya Hotel, he decided to keep Bajpai's slipper, which the latter had forgotten in his room, as a souvenir. After about seven years in Patna, he relocated to Delhi to attend the National School of Drama, where he graduated in 2004.
