1. Downing Street has announced that the United Kingdom and India will launch a Young Professionals Exchange in 2023.
The United Kingdom will offer 3000 degree-holding Indians jobs for up to two years.
Downing Street has announced that British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak will announce a new "partnership" with India at the G20 summit in Bali on Wednesday. Under the UK-India Young Professionals Scheme, the UK will offer 3,000 degree-holding Indians between the ages of 18 and 30 positions to work in the UK for up to two years each year. The scheme will begin in early 2023 and will be reciprocal.
"I have firsthand experience with the incredible value of our deep cultural and historic ties with India," Mr. Sunak said in a statement. "I am delighted that even more of India's brightest young people will now have the opportunity to experience everything that life in the United Kingdom has to offer, and vice versa, enriching our economies and societies," he said.
Mr. Sunak had mentioned a reciprocal exchange with India during his Prime Ministerial campaign in the summer.
"The United Kingdom has more links with India than almost any other country in the Indo-Pacific region," Downing Street said in a press release, with Indians accounting for nearly a quarter of all international students in the country and Indian investment supporting 95,000 jobs. The UK government described the program's launch as a "significant moment" not only for the UK-India relationship but also for the UK's ties to the Indo Pacific.
Mr. Sunak described the Indo Pacific as "teeming with dynamic and fast-growing economies."
The countries' talks to finalise a trade agreement are still ongoing, and the prospect of them concluding before the Deepavali deadline has dimmed in part due to comments by British Home Secretary Suella Braverman, who stated that Indians were the largest group of visa overstayers in Britain.
"In parallel with the mobility partnership with India, we are also strengthening our ability to remove immigration offenders," Downing Street said in a statement, referring to the May 2021 MoU on the mobility and migration partnership, which deals with returning visa overstayers to their home countries.

2. NATO and the G7 both condemn Russia's attacks on Ukraine.

President Joe Biden said Wednesday that it was "unlikely" that a missile fired from Russia killed two people in NATO ally Poland, but he pledged support for Poland's investigation into what it called a "Russian-made" missile.
Mr. Biden spoke after convening a "emergency" meeting of the Group of Seven (G7) and NATO leaders in Indonesia Wednesday morning to discuss the attack in eastern Poland near the Ukraine border that killed two people.
When asked if the missile was fired from Russia, Mr. Biden told reporters, "There is preliminary information that contests that." "It's unlikely given the trajectory it was fired from Russia, but we'll see."

While in Indonesia for the G20 Summit, the President was awakened overnight by staff with news of the missile explosion and called Polish President Andrzej Duda early Wednesday to express his "deep condolences" for the loss of life. Mr. Biden promised "full US support for and assistance with Poland's investigation" on Twitter, and "reaffirmed the US' ironclad commitment to NATO."
Mr. Biden stated that he briefed the allies on his discussions with Duda and NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg, and that there was "total unanimity among the folks at the table" in support of Poland's investigation into the attack.
"I'll make certain we find out exactly what happened, "Mr. Biden stated "And then, as we investigate, we'll decide on our next step as a group."
The US president hosted the leaders of the G-7, which includes Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, the United Kingdom, and the European Union, as well as the president of the European Council and the prime ministers of NATO allies Spain and the Netherlands, at a large round table in a ballroom in his hotel.

3. In 2021, nearly 15.24 lakh foreign visitors will visit India, with the United States leading the way, followed by Bangladesh.
"Ten countries accounted for 74.39% of total foreigner arrivals in 2021, while the remaining nations accounted for 25.61%," a Home Ministry official said.
"More than 15 lakh foreigners, including 4.29 lakh Americans and 2.4 lakh Bangladeshis, visited India last year during a period of extended coronavirus restrictions and visa regulations," officials said.
"Ten countries accounted for 74.39% of total foreign arrivals in 2021, while the remaining nations accounted for 25.61% of incoming foreigners," a Home Ministry official said. Between January 1 and December 31, 2021, a total of 15,24,469 foreign visitors visited India.
The United States had the most foreign visitors to India during this time period (4,29,860), followed by Bangladesh (2,40,554), the United Kingdom (1,64,143), Canada (80,437), and Nepal.
"As many as 36,451 Afghan citizens, 33,864 Australian nationals, 33,772 Germans, 32,064 Portuguese, and 30,374 French citizens visited India in 2021," the official said.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, all international flights were suspended during the nationwide lockdown, which was first announced in India from March 25 to April 21, 2020, and was extended three times until May 31.
Despite the government's announcement that various activities would be gradually reopened beginning in June 2020, many restrictions remained in place for the remainder of 2020 and a few months in 2021.
Scheduled international flights from India to international destinations were halted for two years beginning March 25, 2020, and ending March 27, 2022. During this time, international flights were only operated under 'air-bubble' arrangements, according to the official.

Except for those on tourist visas, all foreign nationals intending to visit India for any reason (including their dependents on an appropriate category of dependent visa) were permitted.
The MHA restored the e-Visa regime with all sub-categories, except the e-tourist visa, for nationals of 156 countries in March 2021. Tourist and e-tourist visas were then permitted beginning October 15, 2021.
Restrictions on incoming passenger traffic into India via authorised airports and seaports, as well as immigration checkpoints for all categories of foreign nationals who are permitted to enter India or may be permitted to enter India in the future, have been lifted.
The e-visa facility, which includes five subcategories — e-tourist visa, e-business visa, e-conference visa, e-medical visa, and e-medical attendant visa — has been extended to nationals of 171 countries for entry into India through 28 designated international airports and five major seaports.
In addition to the facility, the government has extended the visa-on-arrival scheme to nationals of Japan, South Korea, and the United Arab Emirates for a period of no more than 60 days for business, tourism, conference, and medical purposes.
Another official said that Pakistani nationals over the age of 65 who cross the Attari immigration checkpoint on foot are also granted a visa-on-arrival for 45 days of stay with a single entry, subject to certain conditions.
4. Krishna Garu, a Telugu film superstar, has died.

5. The Pan-India Coastal Defence Exercise Sea Vigil-22 has begun.
The third edition of the 'Pan-India' Coastal Defence Exercise 'Sea Vigil-22' will take place from November 15 to 16, 2022. This National Level Coastal Defence Exercise was conceived in 2018 to validate various measures implemented to improve maritime security since '26/11.' The concept of 'Sea Vigil,' which is a major subset of the Coastal Defence construct, is to activate the Coastal Security apparatus across India and assess the overarching Coastal Defence mechanism.
The Pan-India Coastal Defence Exercise Sea Vigil-22 has begun.
The exercise will be carried out along India's entire 7516 km coastline and Exclusive Economic Zone, involving all Coastal States and Union territories, as well as other maritime stakeholders such as fishing and coastal communities.
The exercise is being carried out by the Indian Navy in collaboration with the Coast Guard and other ministries in charge of maritime activities.
The exercise's scope and conceptual scope are unprecedented in terms of geographical scope, number of stakeholders involved, number of units participating, and objectives to be met.
The drills lead up to the major Theatre Level Readiness Operational Exercise (TROPEX), which the Indian Navy holds every two years.
Sea Vigil and TROPEX will work together to address the entire spectrum of Maritime Security issues. Ex Sea Vigil will include assets from the Indian Navy, Coast Guard, Customs, and other maritime agencies.
