President Droupadi Murmu will pay a visit to Kashi on 'Dev Deepavali.'
PM Modi, who represents Varanasi in Lok Sabha, visited Kashi in 2020 to take part in the 'Dev Deepavali' celebrations.
President Droupadi Murmu is expected to visit Varanasi on November 7 to attend the 'Dev Deepavali' celebrations in Kashi and will take a boat ride in the evening from Sant Ravidas Ghat, located near the Assi Ghat, to see the Ganga river ghats lit with diyas.
The district administration began making preparations for the visit. Uttar Pradesh Governor Anandiben Patel, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, and many other senior U.P. government ministers and high-ranking officials will accompany the President.
On Kartik Poornima, fifteen days after Diwali, the ghats of Kashi celebrate Dev Deepavali, or the Diwali of the 'Gods.' The steps of all the ghats on the Ganga riverfront, from Ravidas Ghat in the south to Rajghat in the north, are lit with 'diyas' in honour of Ganga and its presiding goddess.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who represents Varanasi in Lok Sabha, visited Kashi in 2020 to take part in the 'Dev Deepavali' celebrations. Mr. Modi attended the aarti at Dashashwamedh Ghat, as well as the laser show and sailing in the holy river.
